RUMMY500

The Game
Rummy 500 is another exciting Rummy variant, in which the goal is to be the first player to reach a cumulative score of 500 points. The game is played with one standard deck of 52 cards plus 2 Jokers. The play pattern itself is like most Rummy variations and so it includes the basic moves of drawing, melding and discarding cards during one's turn. Another goal is to meld all the cards in your hand into melds of sets and runs. A set consists of 3 or more cards of the same value but different suits, while a run is formed by 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit.

A unique feature of Rummy 500 concerns the discard pile - players can pick up more than one card from the discard pile, and win a turn by calling "Rummy" as soon as they identify cards that form a valid meld in the discard.

The play ends in 2 different occasions: either when a player goes out, or when the stock pile runs out of cards. In these two cases the round is over the score of each player is calculated by counting the value of their melds and subtracting the value of the cards left in their hands. In case the cards left in a player's hand count a total higher than the count of their melds, their score of this round is negative. The game is over as soon as one of the players reaches the target score of 500 points.
