Traditional Rummy Traditional Rummy is based on the play structure shared with all the Rummy variants. The winner is the first player to dispose of all the cards in his hand at once - this move is called Going Rummy. Another way to win the game is to be the first player to dispose of all the cards in his hand gradually - this is called Going Out. In this Rummy variant there are no restrictions regarding when one is allowed to lay down melds or add matching cards to existing melds. Meaning, one can lay down melds or add matching cards to existing ones at any time.
